Painting & Decorating
The finishing coat that ties the whole refurbishment together
Decoration is judged up close, in good light, for years — which is why the preparation matters more than the paint. Filling, sanding and a tidy cut-in are what separate a flawless finish from an average one.
Because Derek decorates the rooms he refurbishes, the finishing coat is held to the same standard as the build. Louise's review lists painting among the trades he handles himself, and the word that recurs across our reviews is "flawless."

Preparation you don't see
We fill, sand and make good before any topcoat goes on, mask carefully, and cut in cleanly — the unglamorous work that decides how good the finish looks and how long it lasts.
The last, tidy step
Decoration is usually the final stage of a refurbishment, and we treat it as the handover it is: a clean, precise finish, the site left tidy, and a room that's ready to use rather than one that still needs "a few bits."
