Floor Laying
Tiled, wood-effect and laminate floors, laid level and true
A floor shows every shortcut underneath it — an uneven subfloor, a badly set-out tile line, a lippy board. Laying it well starts long before the finish goes down, with the preparation and the setting-out.
Floor laying is one of the trades Louise's review lists among Derek's own — and because it's done by the same team finishing the room, the floor is set out to suit the walls and units rather than fought in at the end.

Preparation first
We prepare and level the subfloor before anything is laid, so tiles don't crack and boards don't lift. The setting-out is planned so cut edges land in the least visible places and the pattern runs square to the room.
Floors chosen to suit the room
Large-format and patterned tiles, wood-effect and laminate — laid to a clean, level, hard-wearing finish that stands up to a bathroom or kitchen. We'll advise on what suits the room and the traffic it takes.
